Why does Ketryx say that I need to reset my MFA?

There are a couple common scenarios where you might encounter a prompt to reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Ketryx:

  1. Authenticator Removal: If you have removed or uninstalled the authenticator app linked to your Ketryx account, the system can no longer verify your identity using that method, requiring an MFA reset.
  2. Switching Devices or Browsers: When you change machines, browsers, or use a security key-based authentication method (e.g., TouchID), the associated key might no longer be accessible. In this case, Ketryx may still display the security key as an option, but you won't be able to complete the authentication process.

You can request your organization owner to reset your MFA status or reach out to a Ketryx team member to reset your MFA status.

If you belong to more than one organization, note that an owner can only reset your MFA while you have that organization set as your current organization. Make sure you are working in the correct organization (use "Switch organizations") before the reset, and again when you set up your new authenticator - see the Owner definition in the Definitions and Acronyms section of MAN-001 in the Ketryx documentation.

To avoid interruptions, we recommend setting up at least one backup organization owner, in addition to your primary organization owner, in case the primary owner needs to have their MFA reset.
