You can include Git-based repository Item IDs in your release documents by adding the {item.repositoryItemId} tag to your document templates (see document templating documentation here). This allows you to display the user-defined item ID from the source code in your generated documents.

How do I edit my document templates to include the repositoryItemId?

  1. Navigate to the document page > Templates > Release
  2. Open your document template
  3. Add the {item.repositoryItemId} tag where you want the Git-based item ID to appear
  4. Save your template and regenerate your documents

Do I need to refresh my Git-based items before generating documents?

Yes, before generating your documents, click the "Refresh from Git" button in the SBOM module to ensure they reflect the most current state of your Git-based configuration items.

Will this work for all types of Git-based items?

Yes, this will work for all Git-based configuration items with a defined repository item ID, regardless of the file format or parser used.
