Why is the number of Test Cases in the Testing report different from the number of included Test Cases?

When downloading the Testing report from the Test management page in Ketryx, you can see a different number of Test cases in the report compared to what you see in the Ketryx UI for the selected version.

This can be due to several reasons:

  1. The Testing report download creates rows based on Test Executions rather than Test Cases whereas the UI creates rows based on Test Cases. You will observe a difference between the number of rows in the xls. and the number of Test Cases in the Ketryx UI when there are more than one Test Execution associated with a Test Case. Here are examples of scenarios for having more than one Test Execution for a Test Case:
    1. Xray/Ketryx: use of Test environments means you have have multiple Test Executions per each Test Case
    2. Xray: Multiple effective Test Executions existing in a version that execute the same Test case
  2. The Testing report download only includes Test Cases that have an Latest Execution in the selected version. Test Cases without a Latest Execution are omitted from the download. Again, this is because the download is based on Test Executions not Test Cases.

To access information more specific to Test Cases in the test plan for the release, the Ketryx out of the box Test Report (downloaded from Release documents) will provide this information. The diagram below provides an explanation of what is included in the Testing report download and the OOB Test Report.
