Your traceability widget may not be appearing because it has not been added to the screen. To make the traceability widget appear on an item in Jira, first ensure that your item is not in a closed state. Then, select the cog located under the title of the item. You can then select "Traceability" which will allow the traceability widget to appear on the item. The image below demonstrates this.
